International Day against Homophobia, Transphobia and Biphobia (IDAHOT) 2018

Every year on 17th May International Day against Homophobia, Transphobia and Biphobia (IDAHOT) is observed universally. The day is celebrated to create awareness about the issues and rights of LGBTQIA+ community. This year on the occasion of IDAHOT 2018, GAURAV organisation conducted various activities in order create awareness amongst the larger society. Activities like Booth Activity, Freeze Mob and Photo Exhibition was organized by the GAURAV along with its youth wing Rainbow Tigers.

Social Media Campaign

Social Media Campaign Date: 17, 18 & 19th May 2018 Social media campaign for three days were done on Organisational social media platform in order to spread message and powerful voice of celebrities, activist and supporters for support, acceptance and no stigma & discrimination to LGBT community with Hashtag #IDAHOT2018 & #AlliancesforSolidarity . Social media Campaign was supported by Powerful voices of Joel Bedos (IDAHOT committee), Prince Manvendersingh Gohil (LGBT Activist), Joyita Mondal (national Lokadalat Bench), ViiV healthcare POSITIVE ACTION, Gauri Sawant (Hijra/Transgender social activist), DeAndre (Duke of Hanumanteshwar), George Owino (IAVI), Caitlin Hudson (GSK), Zainab Patel (Human Right Activist), Vijaya (MS. GAURAV), Parmesh Shahani (Godrej India culture lab.), Alizeh Khan (MX. GAURAV 2018), Shankari Gauri (Human Right Activist), Darshan Mandhana (Mr. Gay world India 2017), and Jatin (MR. GAURAV 2018).


Freeze Mob

Young members of Rainbow Tigers (Initiative of GAURAV) performed freeze mob on the beach. Each member was holding handmade posters of some interesting messages and slogans. After which they also went into the people and spoke to them about IDAHOT and LGBT community acceptance.


GAURAV Booth

GAURAV Booth Date – 17th May 2018 Day – Thursday Time – 04:00PM to 06:00PM Venue – Juhu Beach, Mumbai Details: Organisational Booth was setup near the beach. Informative pamphlets, booklets regarding HIV/AIDS information in order to increase awareness for community. Free condoms were available on the booth to encourage people for following safe sex practices in any sex practices.


Photo Exhibition at Juhu Beach

Photo Exhibition at Juhu Beach An amazing photo exhibition based on IDAHOT theme was also set up in collaboration with The QKnit. The IDAHOT photo-shoot is essentially to tell the people that the Transgenders, Bisexuals, Gays, and Lesbians are amongst us. They do the same activities as straight people- wake up in the morning, go to office, travel by trains, mingle with people, and socialize. Homophobia, Transphobia and Biphobia is all in mind.


Photo Exhibition at 6*Degrees

After Juhu Chowpatty, the INVISIBLE photo exhibition for IDAHOT was again showcased in the Working with Pride Mumbai Meet up hosted by 6*Degrees at Sam Bar Pub and Kitchen, Khar West. Meet up was attended by people of different age, sex, sexual orientation, religion, caste, class, occupation, etc. The meet up provides a medium to discuss means to achieve inclusive growth and development. All the people who came for the meet appreciated the concept of the exhibition and also shared their opinion about the pictures. Well know celebrity Mr. Neeraj Gaba also gave an informative insight about each and every picture. Another celebrity Mr. Sushant Divgikar also viewed the entire exhibition and praised the team for its work.
